Test your hard drive*
Defrag your hard drive
Remove temporary files
Repair and defrag your Windows registry
Remove malicious or problematic software installs
Remove spyware/malware/adware*
Remove excessive toolbars*
Test wireless and network connectivity
Install Windows and system driver updates
Clean your heatsink, fan, and cooling system professionally
Check security status and update antivirus software
Check your ram and hard drive and recommend upgrade options if necessary
Check your laptop to see if we can prevent future problems

Turn around for our laptop Tune Up is 72 hours or less!
(unless other repairs are requested or required)

Other stores charge $79.00 or more, and do not offer all the services we provide.

* Hard drive diagnostics do not always detect a failing hard drive. A hard drive can fail at any time, regardless of it’s age. If your hard drive fails diagnostics, we will call you with available options.

* We will do our best to remove your spyware, malware, and adware. If a severe infection, viruses, or operating system problems are found a higher labor authorization or re-install of the operating system may be required, and you will be notified. Repair of viruses, and corrupt system files are considered a normal repair, and turn around time is normally 7 days or less, unless parts are needed.

*If you installed any program that is associated with an infection, or spyware, it may not work properly after the infection has been removed.

* As a security precaution Seattle Laptop will remove problematic or Excessive Toolbars.

Seattle Laptop is not responsible for software or Windows problems resulting from the removal, or cleaning of infected system files or updating your laptop. Seattle Laptop's $39 Tune Up is only intended to increase the performance of our customer's laptops, as well as properly clean their laptop's cooling systems, test their hard drives, and inspect for other potential problems. If your laptop has other issues, such as hardware problems, we will notify you of repair options.

Definitions:

Virus – A virus is an infection that reproduces its own code in an attempt to infect or cause damage to system software, or other programs. Most infections are not due to a virus infection they are caused by adware/malware/spyware.

Adware - Pop ups/pop unders (web pages that appear without the user opening or requesting them) and banner ads.

Malware/smitfraud/rogue antivirus - Malicious software. Most of the time installed without the user authorizing installation. Most common infections are fake antivirus software or fake windows security center however can also be registry cleaning software or system maintainance software.

Spyware - Keyloggers and other malicious material with the sole purpose of retrieving personal information. Commonly used in identity theft.

Trojan - Known as viruses however they are files or applications with extra coding added designed to infect once they are executed or opened. (trojan horse)

Toolbar - Browser add ons that give extra functionality. Can commonly be installed without the users knowledge. Seattle Laptop recommends only one toolbar be installed. Multiple toolbars can cause a security risk as well as browser instability.

Browser Helper Object (BHO) - Browser add ons like active x components, java, and flash. Most infections are caused by browser security leaks.

Hosts File - A list of certain websites that are a security risk.
