Even with the simplest problems, the more we know about what happened, and what the laptop is NOT DOING the easier it will be for us to fix your laptop quickly, and save you money on labor. When you bring in your laptop for repair, or fill out the - - REPAIR FORM - - before shipping it to us, please describe the problem your are having with your laptop as thoroughly as possible. Tell us what your laptop is NOT DOING, and if the problem is caused by something you do, such as running a program, we need to know this too. You can let us know what you think the problem is too, but it is more important that we know what your are not able to do.

Now here is where the fun starts. For instance, if your screen got cracked when your laptop was dropped, your machine may have suffered other damage, such as a damaged, and soon to be bad hard drive, or a cracked system board. Sometimes components inside the laptop will become unseated, and this would need addressed before we even begin replacing the screen. Many times a customer will plug their laptop into a monitor to test it, or possibly work with it before bringing it in for repair. If your laptop has been working with an external monitor for a while, it is good for us to to know this, so we don't spend excessive time testing your laptop before repairing the screen, saving time us time and you money. We always turn on our customer's laptops and check them thoroughly before beginning even the simplest repairs. If you plug your laptop into an external monitor, or LCD, and your laptop seems to boot, but nothing is displayed on the screen of the monitor, the resolution setting on your laptop may be too high for the monitor. If you think this is happening, reboot your laptop, and hit F8 before it begins booting Windows, and when the boot menu pops up, select VGA Mode.

Perhaps you spilled wine on your laptop, and some of they keys on the keyboard don't work. You may think the keyboard could be cleaned (which it can't), or would have to be replaced. Ok so far. The bigger question is whether wine (or any liquid) dripped down to the system board or not. We can't know this for sure until we remove the keyboard, and inspect the laptop. If a liquid spill reaches your laptop's system board, it may instantly short out and the laptop could fail, or, if not cleaned, will quickly cause corrosion. This corrosion will most likely damage your laptop's system board in a matter of days, or perhaps later. If your laptop had liquid spilled on it we recommend you instantly turn it off, and remove the battery, and bring it to us. The sooner we take it apart, and clean the liquid, the less likely the liquid will permanently damage the system board.
